Winter Solstice Ceremony & Spiral Walk

A Winter Solstice Spiral Walk is a ceremony that honors the seasonal cycle of light and darkness and celebrates the return of light. The ceremony involves walking the path of light.

Here are some elements of a Winter Solstice Spiral Walk:

Spiral: The spiral is a natural pattern that can be found in nature, and is often associated with rebirth, time, and seasons.

Evergreen boughs: These symbolize life everlasting and are placed in a spiral on the floor.

Walking: Participants walk the spiral alone, at their own pace.

You journey inward, with your question, or guidance you are seeking. As you spiral in, it’s the time to release any burdens or distractions that you’ve been carrying.

You pause at the center, ready to receive whatever wisdom and guidance is waiting for you.

You leave the center, and take the journey outward, bringing, and integrating, the new information, gifts and wisdom.

 Winter Solstice Ceremony

Create a list of all the things you want to let go of. This list should ideally be about internal struggles; about the stories your mind tells you about yourself.

Sit in the dark for 10 minutes and think of all the things on your list that you are ready to let go of, and who you would be without those stories.

After you have mentally run through your list, go back to the physical list and write “THE END” after each item.

Place your paper into the bowl and stir it clockwise....

Walk back out of spiral and sit with your thoughts...

Closing: music and interpertive dance.

This next part at home....

Now that you have cleared all the negative from your thoughts take some time to write down your intentions for the beginning of a new year.
